Text: 1 CORINTHIANS 4:1-21
Memory Verse: For who maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou didst not receive? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? (1 Corinthians 4:7)
Message: Those who truly understand what it means to be a steward can never be overtaken by the spirit of pride. They are perpetually humble and grateful because they realise that there is nothing they have or possessed that they have not received from God. We must always realise that God is the owner of all that we claim to be ours. He created us, formed us and blessed us for His own purpose. All that He has given us was for the purpose of His kingdom. God does not want us to have a sense of ownership concerning the things that He has given to us. We must continue to acknowledge God as the giver and the owner. We must also learn to use all that He has given us for His glory. Whatever you have, be it your life, your cars, your houses, your gifts, talents and even your money belongs to God. They are not yours, so use them to the glory of God. We become very stingy and unable to give for God’s work when we assume the ownership of what God has given to us. It is true that God wants those things to be of a great benefit to us, but more importantly, He wants us to be grateful enough to use them for His glory. Recognising and acknowledging God as the owner will automatically make us become a faithful and dependable steward.
Wisdom Nugget: There is no self-made man on earth. He made us so we can be useful to Him.
Prayer Point: Father, help me to see things the way you see them in Jesus name.
