WATCH AND PRAY – Day 2

Text: MATTHEW 26:1-75

Memory Verse: Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41)

Message: The place or importance of prayers cannot be overemphasized. The life of our Lord Jesus Christ, His ministry underscores all the important place of prayers. It was very close to the Crucifixion of Christ or the sufferings of Christ which is popularly referred to as the passion of Christ when our Lord Jesus Christ commanded His disciples to watch and pray as He took them out to pray. He fell on His face and prayed about the cup or the sufferings, asking God to take away the cup from Him but thank God He concluded by saying “Not my will but your will be done”. It is absolutely impossible to have the will of God fully established in our lives without prayers. The place of prayers is the place of enforcing the will of God in our lives. Jesus saw the need for intense and extensive prayers because His soul was exceeding sorrowful, even unto death. He instructed His disciples to watch and pray but unfortunately the disciples were busy sleeping. He was amazed that the disciples could not watch and pray with Him for just an hour. As far as Jesus was concerned the least He expects the faithful to pray was an hour. He commanded them to pray so they will not fall into temptation. We too need to be prayerful today so as to avert all that the enemies might have intended against our lives, family and the church. We also need to pray because the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. We really need to pray to overcome the weaknesses of the flesh and so we can overcome all the temptations of the enemies.

Wisdom Nugget: Those who refuse to pray will surely become a prey for the enemies.

Prayer Point: Father, I refuse to be a prey or victim for the enemies in Jesus name
