THESE THINGS HAVE I SPOKEN UNTO YOU – Day 142

Text: JOHN 15:1-27

Memory Verse: These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full (John 15:11)

Message: We serve a God of purpose. He does not do anything without a purpose. He gave us His word for certain reasons. From our text today, we discovered one of the reasons why God gave us His word. He said, He has spoken unto us so that His joy can remain in us and that our joy can be full. That is, to say that our fullness of joy is His will for our lives. It is not possible to disconnect or separate ourselves from the word of God and still maintain our joy in Him. His word fuels joy in our hearts. But the absence of His word is also the absence of joy in our lives. We must never allow anything to keep us away from the word of God. We must never be too busy to study the word of God. We must never excuse ourselves from any church service or programme because of the place of the word of God. We must pay attention to the word of God. The more of God’s word we have in our hearts, the more of His joy we shall have. It is the word of God that gives birth the joy of the Lord in our spirit. Jeremiah said in Jeremiah 15:16, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD”. There are several things the enemies will use to attack our joy but we can resist all of them and maintain our joy regardless of the prevailing situation if we pay attention to the word of God.

Wisdom Nugget: Only those who forget God’s word become a victim of sorrow and depression.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to remember your word at all times in Jesus name.
