THE PROOF OF DISCIPLESHIP – Day 18

Text: JOHN 13:1-38

Memory Verse: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:34,35)

Message: What an amazement to note that Our Lord Jesus Christ did not use the size of our Bible as a proof of our discipleship; neither did He talk about our prayer life or ability to speak in tongues even though they are very essential as well. He made us to know that the only thing that shows that we are His disciples is the fact that we love others. It is ungodly and unlike a disciple to walk in strife, animosities and grudges. Christ taught all His disciples to walk in love and to forgive those who offended them. Thank God for the place of knowledge and revelation of the word, but as important as that is, Christ did not use it as a yardstick to determine who is a true disciple . Without any badge, sticker or any means of identification, the whole world can recognise and acknowledge that we are God’s children when they see us walk in unconditional love. The reason is because God Himself is love and anyone who is born of God is also born of love. As God’s children, His nature is in us. We have the capacity to love people because the love of Christ has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.

Wisdom Nugget: No spiritual virtue matters to God without love.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to spread the fragrance of your love wherever I go in Jesus name.
