THE LORD OUR KING – Day 210

Text: ISAIAH 33:1-24

Memory Verse: For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. (Isaiah 33:22)

Message: Today is  usually referred to as democracy day in  my home  country  Nigeria and we pray for true democracy in our land in Jesus name. Democracy only thrives on the principle of separation of powers. Only God can be our king, our lawgiver, and our judge and not end up becoming a tyrant or an autocrat. 
True democracy can only be experienced when there is great respect for separation of powers. In true democracy, we have three tiers of government; the executive, which represents the king; the legislatures (which can also be called the lawgivers) and the judiciary (which represent the judge). God is all of these unto us and we must see Him so, as a nation as we carry  out  our assignments day-in day-out on the planet earth. No one can be a better king, lawgiver, judge like our God. We have seen the judiciary pronouncing judgements and God who is the greatest judge decided to overturn it, because He is the righteous judge. 
For our nation to move forward and be all that God wants it to be, we must see God as our lawgiver and obey Him. We must also see Him as our king and our judge. Our government must respect that separation of powers as enacted in the word of God and our constitution and not make mockery of any of the tiers of government. Insulting or making mockery of any of the tiers of government will always have adverse effects on the other tiers of government and that will largely affect maintenance of law and order. There must be absolute respect for all the tiers of government and we must allow all of them to operate freely without fear or intimidation so that the checks and balances that they are meant to be can be in place. Our country shall be great in Jesus name.

Wisdom Nugget: Where there is no respect for checks and balances, there will be anarchy and autocracy.

Prayer Point: Father, let our leaders in this nation be delivered from selfishness in Jesus name.
