THE KING’S BUSINESS REQUIRES HASTE – Day 124

Text: 1 SAMUEL 21:1-15

Memory Verse: And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste (1 Samuel 21:8)

Message: Our attitudes to the things of God matters, it reveals so much about our understanding, our maturity, our seriousness and willingness to accept responsibility. From our story today, we saw how David responded to the message of the king. David had a positive attitude towards the message of the king. He placed priority on it and approached it with a sense of urgency. It is disheartening today to see believers who are not ready to do anything for the Lord except that which is convenient for them. We do not do things for the Lord because they are convenient but because we have to. Those who wait for the convenient time may never do anything reasonable for the Lord. We do not pay our electricity bills because it is convenient but because we have to. We do not pay our children school fees because it is convenient but we pay our children school fees because it is expedient and we pay them joyfully with excitements because we love our children. Why must we wait till it is convenient before we can pay our tithes, honour God with our first fruits, win souls, attend church services and do great exploits for God. We must place priority on the kingdom’s business and approach it with a sense of urgency.

Wisdom Nugget: It is not enough to work for the Lord. We must learn to do it promptly.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to obey your word promptly without delay in Jesus name.
