SUBMITTING TO AUTHORITY – Day 141

Text: HEBREWS 13:1-25

Memory Verse: Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you (Hebrews 13:17)

Message: True service to God requires our willingness to voluntarily submit to authority. Our God is not the author of confusion, that is why He ordained leaders to see to the affairs of His kingdom in every local church. No matter our position, calling, qualifications, gifts, talents and no matter the role we play in the church, we must be ready to submit to authority. Pride is the enemy of submission, you can see some men who will beat and batter their wives into stupor at home but they themselves cannot submit to authority. You cannot truly submit to the authority of God and His word and still beat your wife or your husband at home. The moment we give our lives to Christ we have declared our readiness or willingness to submit to the authority of Christ and His word. It is foolish for a believer to argue against the word of God. We must willingly and joyfully obey the word of God. We must also be willing to obey the people God has placed over us in leadership. Disrespecting or disobeying our leaders is actually a disrespect or a disobedience against God. We all know that God Himself will not come down physically to lead us or guide us, but He will usually do that through our leaders. We must get rid of any attitude that makes us feel that we are wiser than our leaders. You cannot be a true child of God if you choose not to obey and respect your leaders. We cannot do things our own ways and have God’s results.

Wisdom Nugget: Walking in obedience does not make you a fool, you only become full of His blessing.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive a humble heart, I receive the grace to submit to authority and to respect my leaders in Jesus name.
