SET YOUR AFFECTION ON THINGS ABOVE – Day 114

Text: COLOSSIANS 3:1-25

Memory Verse: If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:1,2)

Message: David told us in 1 Chronicles 29:3 that he set his affection on the house of God and because of that, he gave so much for the building of the temple that God commanded his son to build. Our text today admonished us to set our affection or love on the things above, not on the things on earth. Unfortunately, many believers have gotten their attention on mundane, transient and ephemeral things of this world. Where we set our love or affection really matters. It is often said that where we put God in our heart determines where God places us on the earth. It is not a sin to have desires, goal or call it ambition or things you desire to have or accomplish, but we must be careful not to become so worldly minded so much more that we have no desire for the things of God. For instance, we need to have goals as touching the number of souls we want to win to God every month and even this year. How much do you want to sow to God’s kingdom this year? We need to also apply goal setting to our prayer life, study life e.t.c. We must not live our lives without goals or desires.

Wisdom Nugget: Without goals there is no score. Those who have no goals simply live like a goat.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to reach my goals this year in Jesus name.
