PRAYING FOR OTHERS – Day 16

Text: COLOSSIANS 1:1-29

Memory Verse: For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9,10)

Message: Sometimes I feel like reading all these Pauline prayers for the brethren again and again because they seem to be different from the regular or the usual prayers we pray today. Every believer must see the need to pray for others particularly for the young converts or souls they have won to the kingdom of God through various outreaches or through personal evangelism and soulwinning efforts. There are believers who may not even know the joy of winning souls to the kingdom of God. That is one of the greatest experience anyone could have. Even the word of God says that there is so much joy in heaven for a soul that is led to Christ here on earth. It is a very great thing to win souls to God’s kingdom but that is not the end of the whole assignment. We must work tirelessly and pray ceaselessly to ensure that the fruits abide. It is the will of God that we follow our converts up through prayers, fasting, visitation and the demonstration of the true and unconditional love of God. We must not get satisfied and relax simply because we have led someone to Christ. That is just the beginning of the whole thing. It is like catching fish from the river without drying it. We must learn to pray for people and also our leaders instead of criticising them.

Wisdom Nugget: Those who pray for others as a lifestyle will always reap the harvest of the same.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to overcome selfishness in my prayer life in Jesus name.
