PAY YOUR VOWS – Day 33

Text: PSALMS 50:1-23,

Memory Verse: Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High (Psalms 50:14)

Message: We often make vows to God in our prayers especially when we are going through trying times, but unfortunately many do not remember their vows when God has intervened in their situations. So also we make pledges or promise God so many things at some critical junctions of our lives, but it is so disheartening to note that majority do not take it to heart to redeem or pay their vows or pledges. God is not interested in our empty words. He actually wants us to back up all our promises with positive actions. God detests deceptive or empty promises. Ecclesiastics 5:4 says; “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed”. Whatever the nature of our vows, be it to worship and praise God or roll on the floor, or give God some sacrificial seeds, we must endeavour to pay them. The word of God says we should not allow our mouth to cause us to sin and we should not say before the angels that it was a mistake so that God will not be angry against us and destroy the works of our hands (Ecclesiastics 5:6). One of the ways to offer thanksgiving to God is to pay our vows or pledges that we have made with God. When we do that, the word of God says that we should call upon Him in the days of trouble and He will deliver us and we shall glorify Him (Psalms 50:15). Thank God for making us to see the last month of the year. We need to list all the promises that we have made at the beginning of the year and purpose to pay all our vows or pledges to God as a sign of gratitude and appreciation to the Almighty.

Wisdom Nugget: It takes a genuine heart of gratitude to remember and to pay all our vows and pledges to God.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to remember and to pay all my vows and pledges. I refuse to be a fool in Jesus name.
