NEVERTHELESS AT THY WORD – Day 78
Text: LUKE 5:1-39
Memory Verse: And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net (Luke 5:5)
Message: Nothing works until we follow the principles of God’s word. We must always acknowledge the fact that our God is the all wise God or the only wise. Following His word is following the path of wisdom. Peter, a professional fisherman went out as usual for his fishing expedition. With all the experience and expertise or skill, we were told that he caught nothing. He decided to quit out of discouragement, Jesus met him as he was washing his net so as to close for the day. Our Lord Jesus Christ requested for his boat to enable Him preach to the multitudes who were very eager to receive from Him. Peter did not argue with the master, he released his boat to Him and Jesus used that to reach out to the people. Just as we know that no one can out give God, whatever we give to Him He will always multiply it back to us. Jesus decided to reward Peter for making his boat available for Him to reach out to the people. He instructed Peter to throw his net to the right side. Peter explained that he had done that all night but nothing to show for it, but he said “Nevertheless at thy word”. He obeyed the word of Jesus and that led him to the greatest breakthrough of his life. That is what usually happens when we choose to value God’s word above our own opinion. Obedience pays.
Wisdom Nugget: The word of God will always make the difference when we choose to walk in obedience.
Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to live according to your word in Jesus name.
