IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS – Day 48

Text: PSALMS 92:1-15

Memory Verse: It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High (Psalms 92:1)

Message: Our God is not only a wise God. He is also called the only wise. Whatever He says is the final and the most authentic because He created all things and knows all things. If God says that praising Him or giving Him thanks is good, then we need to consider it as very important and give it priority in our lives. God can never be wrong, He is infallible, He knows better than everyone. He repeated the same thing in Psalms 147:1 thus; “Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely”. Praise and thanksgiving is not only good but pleasant to God and it is comely. That also implies that sorrow, self-pity, depression, grumbling, murmuring, complaining are not good because they are like the opposite of joy and praises. If thanksgiving is good, it follows that ingratitude is not good. Praise is pleasant to God; that means that praise pleases God, it gives God unusual pleasure. The word comely also means pleasant to look at or attractive. In Psalms 69:30,31 David said; “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving; this also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs”. God is more pleased with our praises and thanksgiving than any sacrifice. Thanksgiving is an expression of faith. The word of God says without faith we cannot please God. He is pleased when we praise Him.

Wisdom Nugget: If praise is good and pleasant to God, then, it is impossible to please God with murmuring and complaining.

Prayer Point: Father, let every tendency to grumble, murmur or complain be destroyed in my life in Jesus name.
