GIVING THANKS FOR ALL THINGS – Day 49
Text: EPHESIANS 5:1-33
Memory Verse: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:20)
Message: I have heard several preachers saying that God said in everything we should give thanks and not for everything. But our MEMORY today seems to be saying what those preachers have not noticed. Apostle Paul talked of giving thanks always for all things. It is true that sometimes it is negative things that we do not desire but God who knows all things said we should give thanks. Not because those things actually came from God but because God knows the details of what would have happened. We thank God for what has happened because we do not know what would have happened without His interventions. Some years ago, we travelled to my county side but while we were returning my car that I was suppose to ride just developed a fault, we tried all we could to fix it but all efforts were to no avail. So I decided to join my bus which I also took home with some of the brethren and two of my children. Unfortunately, we did not know of a bridge that had broken down and without any road sign or warning, our bus headed for that broken bridge. All the efforts of people to stop us failed because our brake system had failed. Our vehicle somersaulted a few times but no one was badly injured or killed. We still came out of it thanking God because we never knew the magnitude of what the enemies had planned concerning us on that day, so we returned all the Glory to God. It could have been, worse without God’s intervention. Infact, it could have been worse if it had been the other car because the bus was much stronger and spacious.
Wisdom Nugget: It is what happened that we always talk about. No one knows what could have happened.
Prayer Point: Father, thank you for frustrating the plans of the wicked, over my life, my family and your church in Jesus name.
