FOLLOW THAT WHICH IS GOOD – Day 133
Text: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:1-28
Memory Verse: See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men(1 Thessalonians 5:15)
Message: The word of God is not only about what God has done for us but how God expects us to live our lives. As children of God, we need to realize that the Bible is our constitution. The Bible tells us how to behave and how to relate with others. In today’s text, Apostle Paul started by admonishing the Christians in Thessalonica as children of light because they are no more in darkness. He admonished them not to sleep or be insensitive to the responsibilities that God has in store for them. He admonished them to be”Sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love”. He went further by telling them how to relate with their leaders in the church. In verses 12 and 13, he admonished them to know the leaders among them and to esteem them very highly for their work’s sake. In verse 14, he continued to explain how the believers are expected to behave. “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, be patient toward all men” (1 Thessalonians 5:14). In our memory verse today (verse 15), he told them to ensure that no one render evil for evil, meaning that they must learn to walk in love and forgiveness. It is unforgiveness that makes people render evil for evil. He encouraged them to follow that which is good because it is easier for people to follow bad examples than the good ones.
Wisdom Nugget: Only those who follow that which is good will see good things always. What you follow determines what follows you.
Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to follow that which is good in Jesus name.
