DO NOT FORGET YOUR VOWS – Day 161

Text: ECCLESIASTES 5:1-20

Memory Verse: When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay (Ecclesiastes 5:4,5)

Message: We have examined several things that God wants us to forget and the things that He admonished us not to forget. One of the things we must never forget are the vows and pledges that we have made before the Lord. The word of God even says we should not defer or delay or procrastinate before we pay them. That means that we do not have forever to pay our vows to God. It is not something that we can pay whenever we choose to, God said we should not delay in paying them. Vows or pledges become debts that we owe immediately we make them. God sees us as fools when we make vows and we refuse to pay them or we delay in paying them. The word of God is not against vows or pledges as we call it in modern day language but God is not glad when we make vows and we refuse to pay them. We must never wait to be reminded of our pledges or vows before we pay them. Verse 6 is the most fearful of all these scriptures and it says; ‘Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?”You cannot say your vow was a mistake and God can be angry and destroy the works of our hands when we are unfaithful in the vows that we had made.

Wisdom Nugget: Nothing puts our integrity to test like the vows and pledges we had made before God. Nobody knows but God knows.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to pay all my vows and pledges speedily in Jesus name.
