DO NOT FORGET YOUR GOD – Day 157

Text: DEUTERONOMY 6:1-25

Memory Verse: Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage (Deuteronomy 6:12)

Message: We have seen again and again that God said He will not forget us but He also commanded us not to forget Him. Forgetting God does not mean that we will no longer remember that God exists. However it connotes living as if we can achieve all that we need to achieve by ourselves or as if our efforts or abilities alone have brought us to where we are. There are many things that characterize a life that forgets God. First, such people usually arrogate their successes to their efforts and hard-work. Secondly such people usually withdraw in their commitments and dedication to God. They also see serving God as a waste of time. Furthermore, they begin to see giving to God or honouring God with their tithes as a waste of their resources. They no longer tell anyone about Christ and coming to church can even become a burden or a waste of their precious time. Those who forget God have no more value for the word of God and they no longer value their relationship and fellowship with God and God’s people. Such people usually withdraw from the things of God and cleave to the things of the world. They usually walk in compromise and are usually overtaken by worldly lusts and ambitions. It is a very dangerous thing to forget God. We must repent and come back to Him.

Wisdom Nugget: Lukewarmness in the things of God is the beginning of a life disconnected from God.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to stay connected to you all the days of my life in Jesus name.
