CONSIDER YOUR WAYS – Day 28
Text: HAGGAI 1:1-15
Memory Verse: Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD (Haggai 1:7,8)
Message: The Lord of host spoke twice in our text today admonishing the people of God to consider their ways before Him. We must stop walking on assumptions that we are serving God or doing our best in His vineyard. We must learn to sit down and consider our ways and our priorities. Often we are left with indications in our lives that show that things are not alright, but we often blame the devil and everyone around without thinking that other things or other factors might be responsible,, let alone think of the fact that we might be the cause. From our text today we read of the people working assiduously or diligently but nothing seems to be working for them. God said to them; “Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages, earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes” (Haggai 1:6). That continued in verses 9-11. They suffered drought, God said they gathered but He blew what they gathered away because the people were selfish. They only think of their own comfort but they have little or no concern for the house of God. They tried to put their own houses in good taste but they watched the house of God deteriorating and getting out of shape. God was unhappy about their nonchalant attitudes toward His house.
Wisdom Nugget: Our attitudes toward the things of God can really be our problem and not the devil.
Prayer Point: Father, help me to develop and maintain a faithful attitude towards your work in Jesus name.
