BE RICH TOWARDS GOD – Day 209

Text: LUKE 12:1-59

Memory Verse: But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God (Luke 12:20-21)

Message: Are  we laying up treasures for  ourselves  or are  we  laying treasures up for God? Are you rich towards God or are you just living for yourself? God wants  us to answer these questions clearly and sincerely. 
In our text today we read of the parable of the rich man whose ground yielded so plentifully but he thought within himself of what to do for he had no more room to store his harvest. He was only concerned about hoarding or amassing wealth, so he thought of pulling down his barns, makes it greater or bigger. He then said “And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.” (Luke 12:17,18 & 19). He had no plan, concern, or agenda for God or His kingdom.The rich man did not even talk about his immediate family or the extended one,  neither was he concerned with the plight of the poor around him. All his plans was just about himself. He was selfish and self centred. Unfortunately, God answered him by saying: “Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (Luke 12:20). It is foolishness to have great plans for ourselves here on earth without thinking of where to spend eternity. We do not have forever  to live in this world.
The man was planning on how he would enjoy his life for  many more years not knowing that he was actually living his last day here on earth and he was not prepared for eternity in anyway or form. He was not aware that he had just a few hours left. How prepared are you for eternity? Do we really plan for God and His kingdom? We have but just a little time here on earth. We must constantly think of eternity and the time we have left. It’s time to prepare for eternity. We must not just plan for the moment, we must plan for the future. We must prepare for our heavenly home, we must prepare for eternity.

Wisdom Nugget: What will you do with your life if you have just one day left? It is wisdom to start doing those things now. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is a promissory note, do something with your today.

Prayer Point: Father, I refuse to live a wasted life in Jesus name.
