BE READY TO FIGHT – Day 191
Text: DEUTERONOMY 2:1-37
Memory Verse: Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle. (Deuteronomy 2:24)
Message: It is one thing for God to say that He has given us something, yet it is another thing to take possession of those things. God told the people in our text today that He has given to their hands Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon and his land but he still commanded them to contend against him in battle and possess the land. That is to say that whatever we are not ready to fight for, we cannot really possess. There are many things we wish to have in our lives but those things cannot be delivered by mere wishes, we must be ready to contend against all the forces that are hindering us from possessing them. Our God is good; Every good and perfect gift comes from Him. The word of God tells us that if He did not withhold His only son from us then, He will freely give us all things. His blessings are free but we must subdue all the forces of the enemies that are contending against us. There are forces who have vowed not to see you rejoice or even see you possess your possessions, but we must never allow them to have the final say. I encourage you to take out a week and meditate thoroughly in the word and spend quality time in prayers over the challenges of your life. Victory is yours in Jesus name.
Wisdom Nugget: Failure to fight is tacit acceptance of the status-quo.
Prayer Point: Father, I possess all my possessions. I refuse to settle down for anything less than the best that you have in store for me in Jesus name.
