What is in a Life?

Today, I was awakened and reminded of the preciousness and fleeting nature of this journey we call life. I heard a great crash that sounded like a huge metal rack falling. I checked on my children in case they had gotten into some sort of trouble in the early morning hours. They were sleeping peacefully in their room with “Rest On Us” still playing softly on repeat after a late bedtime at 1 am.

I heard another metal crash and thought it might be the neighbours upstairs—maybe something had happened in their unit—so I glanced out the window. To my shock, something was outside
maybe a body. I ran unto the balcony—something I would never normally do in sleepwear. I saw someone’s body lying there.

Unsure what was happening—whether it was a fight, a dead body, someone who had fallen, or jumped, or something else entirely—I began to pray.

I begged for the Lord Jesus to come.

  • For help
  • For mercy
  • For His Will
  • For salvation
  • For second chances and miracles

I prayed over this precious life ending so tragically and leaving the world this way. I praised God for His mercy and goodness. I asked Jesus to let me explain the Gospel message to this soul and any other life ending – that they could make an informed decision before entering eternity – if they were not yet saved.

They ask, what is in a name? This morning I ponder: what is in a life? Every life is created with immeasurable value in the eyes of God—placed here by His handiwork and given the breath of life. Each person is a different reflection of His goodness, His creativity, and His awesomeness. Each soul is on a journey to one of two possible destinations. Given free will, we choose what we pursue in this life for the time we are here—deciding which of two eternal gates we will enter.

We all have an appointment with death—that is certain. Just as the hairs on our heads are numbered, so are our days. All I know is that God loves us. The woman crying over the body—God loves her. God loves the people helping. God loves the bystander who stepped out of the comfort of home to perform CPR outside in the rain. Security who faithfully showed up on scene, and the first responders who arrived shortly after—God loves them too.

God loves every life he created – it is not his will that any should perish. After praying on and off for a couple hours, I sought rest. When I woke up, the rain had washed away all evidence of what happened in the early morning. The police tape and pilons were gone. I know that a life ended. A soul that was precious and beloved before God. I know that when I prayed, if they didn’t know the Gospel yet – they were given an opportunity because God is not only good – he is just. Though I acknowledge humbly my understanding is far below his infinite wisdom.

I have heard many NDE’s where people are offered the second chance, and they don’t want to come back or leave God’s presence, but they do – and we hear their testimonies.

We don’t hear 100% of the testimonies when souls decide to move on to eternity, rather than time as we know it. What transpired in the Spirit and in the Heavenlies around 2:55am today – I don’t know the outcome – a mystery until the day I get to ask God. What I do know – God is good – always.

So – if you ever lost a loved one, wondering if they were saved. I just let you in on a quiet truth. Sometimes in the exact moment of chaos, in the emergency, and breaking of a Life, God positions a prayer warrior who of their own free will prays for your loved one – a complete stranger. I have done this in prayer – when prompted before. Honestly, never so close to the situation and on scene. I prayed they could understand the truth of truths – the gospel message.

So there is hope for your loved ones who died in a coma, aneurysm, dementia or a fire. I have done this prayer for people in the hospital before. God asks his chosen ones to pray with reckless abandon believing in his miraculous works – because for God nothing is in possible.

If you are reading this today, Jesus still invites you to let Him into your life—a life with a better hope and future, one with calling and purpose. Will you answer the call today? Will you seek the truth and the kingdom of heaven? He calls out to His children, inviting them to secure their place in a kingdom. There is an invitation waiting for your RSVP. There is a wedding banquet, and a seat has been set aside for those who accept the gift of salvation. Let Jesus in decisively today and be secure for eternity. Search for wisdom and truth about what all this means.

I pray that you will be blessed with the truth of the gospel message today. That the Lord Jesus would strike the most hardened hearts with the fire of His Holy Spirit. That you would seek the truth early – while it may be found.  You will find him, when you seek him with all your heart.

There is great deception in motion –  setting the framework of the latter days.  With the advent of AI, as believers we must heed the words: “Behold, I come quickly.”  Everything will happen quickly and seemingly all at once. Those who thought they were safe from heartache and hardship are not exempt and there will be justice.

We must watch and stand steadfast.  Prepared for battle and ready to help the vulnerable, the innocent, and those souls the devil considers easy prey.
