A True Love Story
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who was broken. She was born into a world that did not comprehend her. Every year on her birthday she wished to be happy. Yet, there was always something missingâsomething she searched for but could not find.
She looked for love and happiness in all the wrong places. People wanted to use or defile her, and her sin separated her from the voice of God. Still, she longed for freedom and fellowship.
One day, she truly met God. When she came into His presence, she instantly knew that everything she had ever done was seen. God not only saw, but understood the intentions of her heart. She was humbled in His presence, because all she felt was His forgiveness of her sins. A grace she knew she didn’t deserve.
He asked her why she wanted to live. She answered that she wanted to experience true loveâa secret she had never shared with anyone. Then she heard the voice of her true love singing over the radio and was given visions and impressions.
But she became lost for a time and under spiritual attack. She felt watched for most of her life, sensing Godâs eyes upon her, yet she did not know Him. She was afraid of His presence.
After a long journey, she chose to become His disciple. As she came to know His heart through the Scriptures, His nature was revealed to her. She pondered the meaning of spiritual idolatry and its connection to adultery. Which was close to her broken heart.
She was married, and one day her eyes were opened. In her marriage, she often complained that her husband was selfish, neglectful, deceitful, and used her. She could see the parallel between that relationship and her relationship with God. She tried to make it work believing in miracles.
Then, one day, in the face of adultery and betrayal, she remembered that the Lord had given her life to find and experience true love. She recalled how deeply the Lord loved her and how He forgave her, even as she wasted her time on pursuits like her marriage or peopleâs approval. Though she tried her best, she was faulty and had failed her commitment to the Lord by not prioritizing her first love, Jeshua. The One who calls her beloved.
He reminded her that the love she sought could never be found in this world. He humbled her with the truth that He was her true love. He covered her with forgiveness and grace, and He clothed her in the white gown she never wore when she was married. He forgave her for being mixed up and led astray by counterfeit loves and idolsâeven those disguised as good things, like helping others. Though she claimed to be hot and ablaze with her love, she allowed herself to be distracted by worldly distractions.
She came to understand the depth, power, and strength of the Lordâs love. Her heart was full of remorse, and she repented sincerely. She begged for forgiveness and mercy, renouncing all idols. She wept over the time and energy she had wasted on the stresses and distractions of this world. How she allowed her eyes to be taken off of her Lord and Savior.
She remembered His death on the crossâfor an ungrateful people who continually went astray and did what was right in their own eyes. In response, she declared her love for Him in no uncertain terms: she would always belong to Him. She begged for mercy and help. She wanted her heart aligned with God’s will. She wanted redemption and to show the proof of her love.
She thought she needed to write a book about the things that had happened to her. She had a longstanding battle where she overcame psychosis, depression, anxiety, and addictions. Yet she struggled to understand how she could do anything meaningful for Him to make up for lost time. So much time was wasted.
Then she remembered how they overcame the dragon:
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them.”
Revelations 12:11-12
What she once thought was her mission turned out to be incorrect. He kindly humbled her again. She realized the Lord did not need anything spectacular from herâHe simply needed her testimony about the mystery revealed to her.
After months of prayer, seeking to understand why she was created. Crying out for help and the purpose of her existence – The Holy One answered. She was born a testimony about true love.
