FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM – Day 144

Text: HEBREWS 12:1-29

Memory Verse: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2)

Message: As believers, our Lord Jesus Christ remains our perfect example in all the affairs of life. We are not supposed to copy bad examples from anyone. Anything we cannot see in the life of our Lord Jesus Christ should not get our attention. That is why we usually refer to Him as the pattern son. He is also the perfect example of a good master, a good husband e.t.c. We cannot follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and miss it in life. He is the beginning and the end. He is the author and the finisher of our faith. A very important lesson to learn from the life of our Lord Jesus Christ was the way He approached life and His assignment generally. The Bible says that for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross and despised the shame. He showed us by the example of His life that there is always a price to pay for everything that God has promised us. That also tells us that nothing just happens. Our Lord Jesus Christ was a man of focus. He focused on the joy that was set before Him and because of that He endured the cross and despised the shame. He went through shame and endured the pains, hurts of the cross so that the joy that God ordained for Him can be realized. This was one of my favorite scripture when I was in school. I went through thick and thin but I endured that because of the joy of becoming a lawyer and God saw me through. We must learn to endure the pain of obedience so we can partake of the joy of the harvest.

Wisdom Nugget: If we do not endure the pain of sacrifice, we cannot experience the joy of the harvest.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace for patience and endurance in Jesus name.
