THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – Day 135

Text: GALATIANS 5:1-26

Memory Verse: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,meekness, temperance: against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22,23)

Message: God wants us to walk in the spirit so that we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Our text today enumerates the works of the flesh and how it opposes that of the spirit. “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like” (Galatians 5:19-21). Shortly after these, Apostle Paul enumerated the fruit of the spirit or call it the evidence or the proof that we are walking in the spirit. It is not enough to say that we are walking in the spirit, we must manifest the fruit. I read a book when I was in university on the fruit of the spirit. I used to call it fruits but through that book, I learned that it was not pluralized, it is fruit not fruits. So the actual fruit is love which gives birth to other virtues that were mentioned in our text today.”But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance”. Many really want to manifest the nine gifts of the spirit but they do not have any desire for the fruit of the spirit. But the truth is that without love, we cannot manifest the gifts because God does not give us gifts for us to brag about but so we can be a blessing to others.

Wisdom Nugget: We cannot really manifest the gift without the fruit.
