WORK WITH YOUR OWN HANDS – Day 126

Text: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:1-18

Memory Verse: And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you (1 Thessalonians 4:11)

Message: God detests laziness, He hates slothfulness and He cannot stand idleness. There are several things that keep people in laziness, one of such is lack of discipline. Some cannot control themselves. They spend time gossiping and gisting over unnecessary things. That is why Apostle Paul admonished God’s people to study, to be quiet and he encouraged them to do their own business. Whatever you are doing now is your business whether you are on someone’s employment or you are self-employed. There is no reason or excuse for laziness. We must learn to work hard and profitably too, so that we will not become a burden or liability to others. Apostle Paul actually commanded them to work, it is not a mere suggestion. He commanded them to work with their own hands. They should not be lazy or live in fool’s paradise that, God will do everything whether they work or not. He commanded them to work with their own hands so that they can walk honestly towards the people within and outside the church and that they may lack nothing. It you are not working, you will become a liability and lack will be your best friend. God has given you brain, hands, legs so you can work and take good care of yourself and be useful to God. A lazy man has no future. He is always procrastinating; he blames others for his predicament and eventually parasite on others. Work hard and take good care of yourself and your family.

Wisdom Nugget: The greatest enemy of your destiny is not the devil but slothfulness. The devil only have his way in your life when you are idle.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to labour profitably in Jesus name.
