LOST BUT FOUND – Day 110
Text: LUKE 15:1-32
Memory Verse: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry (Luke 15:24)
Message: The word of God tells us that there is a great joy in heaven over a sinner that repents. Nothing makes heaven rejoice like the salvation of a sinner or the restoration of a backslider. The story of the prodigal son reveals to us the undying nature of the father’s love. The love of God was vividly displayed and explained in the account of the prodigal son. The boy woke up one day and demanded from his father all that belonged to him, he took them and then travelled to a far country where he wasted all that the father gave him. The prodigal son made some mistakes, I mean very terrible mistakes but thank God the father did not allow him to be destroyed because of his mistakes. The first mistake was that he collected or demanded for his inheritance before the death of his father. He also took everything and disconnected from his father by travelling to the far country. As if that was not enough, he squandered all that the father gave him. But thank God, he also took the positive step to return to his father in repentance and the father accepted him lovingly and unconditionally. Our sin cannot be too much for God to abandon us if we cry in repentance and return to Him. We must also be very careful never to be like the brother of the prodigal son who was jealous, callous and insensitive to the plight of his brother. We must learn to show mercy and compassion toward the lost and the backsliders, prayerfully preach to them and restore them to Christ.
Wisdom Nugget: It is nothing but ignorance to be envious of sinners. You are better than the richest sinner if you are truly a child of God.
Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to be sensitive to the plight of sinners and backsliders in Jesus name.
