PUT YE IN THE SICKLE – Day 104

Text: JOEL 3:1-21

Memory Verse: Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great (Joel 3:13)

Message: The sickle is a farming instrument used for the harvest of ripe fruits. The prophet Joel addressed the people in an agrarian society metaphorically in his days often the need to get to work because it is harvest time. No age in history falls into this great description like the age in which we live now. There is no doubt that the harvest is overripe in our days, we need to rise up to the responsibility of winning our world back to God. There is no more room for laziness, excuses and complacency. We must wake up to our God-given responsibility. We must put in the sickle. The sickle is an old age implement for harvest and that tells us that even though, we may be blessed with several new strategies to reach out to our world, we must never ignore the old strategies like prayer and fasting. The more we pray and fast for the salvation of souls the better the results we are bound to record. To show that Joel was only talking metaphorically, he added immediately in verse 14 that, there are “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision”. There are so many in the church and outside the church who have not fully decided for God. Prostitution, armed robbery, internet fraud, kidnapping, violence and so many social vices are on the alarming rate, we must no longer keep quiet.

Wisdom Nugget: Those who have the truth cannot afford to keep quiet. We cannot blame heretical teachers if we keep quiet with the truth.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive grace to win souls tirelessly in Jesus name.
