THE VALUE OF A SOUL – Day 96

Text: MARK 8:1-38

Memory Verse: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:36,37)

Message: Sometimes we pursue the wrong things and neglect the right ones. Sometimes we run after things that are of little or no significance and simply abandon the things that are critically important. Most people pursue shadow and neglect the substance. We need to understand the things that are very important so we can focus our attention on the things that actually matters. You can imagine a student who is writing an examination and he left eighty percent of the questions and concentrated on the twenty percent. No matter how much he writes, even if he scores all the twenty percent he will still fail the examination, the reason is because he majored on the mirror. That is the same mistake some people do make in life. Jesus said what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Meaning that, all that we can acquire in this world cannot match the value of our soul. As far as God is concerned, all the mansions, real estates, exotic cars, businesses and investments of this world put together cannot match the worth of a soul in value. Why should anyone pursue all the wealth and position of this world and lose his soul in the process? The truth is that no one can have all the wealth of this world but a fragment. It is time to pursue that which is of eternal value. Every child of God must be concerned about the salvation of the lost.

Wisdom Nugget: Only those who are spiritually minded can be heavenly minded and only those who are heavenly minded win souls.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to win more souls to your kingdom in Jesus name.
