PROFITING IN THE WORD – Day 76

Text: HEBREWS 4:1-16

Memory Verse: For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it (Hebrews 4:2)

Message: God gave us His word so the word can benefit us or be profitable to us. But from our text today we realize that the profits of the word of God do not come to us automatically or accidentally. We can only profit or benefit from the word of God when we allow it to mix with faith in our hearts. That means ,we must always learn to receive the word of God with faith in our hearts before it can benefit us. We must meditate in the word of God, but more importantly we must believe all that God says in His word and act as someone who truly believes in God’s word. For instance, God’s word says we should give and it shall be given unto us, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, men shall give to our bosom (Luke 6:38). You cannot believe that and not be a generous giver. The word of God also tells us that when we go out and bear much fruits and our fruits abide, we shall ask anything from the father and He will do them for us (John 15:16). No one can believe that and not be a passionate soul winner. Believing the word is beyond mere mental assent, it is what we do as a response to the word that we have received that actually shows that we believe indeed.

Wisdom Nugget: Faith is not about the scriptures you know, it is about the scriptures you practice.

Prayer Point: Father, I receive the grace to obey your word. I refuse to give excuses or explain it away in Jesus name.
