STAY CONNECTED – Day 68

Text: JOHN 15:1-27

Memory Verse: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:5)

Message: A branch is useless and lifeless without the vine. The nutrients and the vitality of the branch usually come from the vine. In our elementary science, we were taught the process in which plant gets their food. The vine which is the main stem of the plant grows taproot that goes deep into the soil to receive nutrients for the entire plant. That is why any branch that is disconnected from the vine can never survive. God does not only want us to survive but He wants us to thrive. But we need to realize the fact that we cannot succeed or thrive outside Him. We must stay connected to God in our relationship and unbroken fellowship with Him. We must never be like the prodigal son that collected his own portion and disconnected himself from his father by travelling to a far country. We must learn not to seek the blessing without seeking the blesser. Our seeking God must not be for ulterior or pecuniary motives or just for what to get. In Verse 7 of our text today, God made us to see another meaning of abiding in Him which simply means abiding in His word or living according to His word or obedience unto His word. We are not abiding when we walk contrary to His word. Only those who truly abide can bear much fruit or live acceptably before Him. “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7)

Wisdom Nugget: Stay connected and contented if you don’t want to be disconnected.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to stay connected with you in Jesus name.
