Discipleship: Will you answer the call?
What is it? Why is it important?
Did you know that there is a call on your life when you follow Jesus? Discipleship is making steps forward in your sanctification process – becoming more like Jesus in righteousness, embracing your walk by faith, and ultimately seeking God’s Kingdom and his will. There are many who are saved but self interests drive the trajectory of their life. The fulness of everything that is available to us from God, can only be found through pursuing his presence and will. God promises in His Word that when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (James 4:8). Those who earnestly seek Him will not be turned away, but will experience His closeness, guidance, and grace.
Discipleship demands a teachable heart. It begins with humilityâa posture that acknowledges our deep need for a Savior and our utter dependence on God’s grace. True discipleship requires a willingness to be taught, to submit to God’s Word, and to obey, even when His commands challenge our comfort or understanding.
The only way forward is through humility: recognizing what we lack, accepting correction, and trusting God’s planâespecially when we cannot see the full picture.
Following Jesus also means being at peace with uncertainty. We must learn to surrender our illusion of control and walk by faith, not by sight, knowing that God sees the end from the beginning.
âTrust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.â
â Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
