BEWARE OF COVETOUSNESS – Day 53
Text: LUKE 12:1-59
Memory Verse: And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth (Luke 12:15)
Message: One of the greatest enemy of praise and thanksgiving is covetousness. A covetous person can never be satisfied with what he or she has. He always craves passionately and unduly for what belongs to others. The truth remains that, there is no one without anything and no one actually have all things. Everyone you see on planet earth is still trusting God to do or accomplish some things. There is no way we can praise God and give Him thanks the way we should if we are not ready to get rid of our envy, strife, greed, covetousness and competitive jealousy. You can never have peace or joy or rejoice as you ought to, once you are dissatisfied with what you have. How can someone simply give testimony in the church and you suddenly cannot sleep again until you too have the same testimony. We must drop such attitudes so we can cultivate a lifestyle of thanksgiving and praise. An envious believer is a sinful believer who can never praise God effectively. A covetous believer is a sinful believer who can never live a lifestyle of praise and thanksgiving. The word of God tells us that we have brought nothing to this world and we shall not take anything out of it, so be contented with what you have.
Wisdom Nugget: Without contentment there can be no genuine sense of gratitude.
Prayer Point: Father, help me to overcome covetousness, envy and jealousy all the days of my life in Jesus name.
