NO ONE IS SELF-MADE – Day 37

Text: DEUTERONOMY 8:1-20

Memory Verse: Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied, then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage (Deuteronomy 8:12-14)

Message: One of the greatest temptations that comes to us whenever we succeed in any venture is the temptation to give the glory to ourselves and arrogate everything to our doggedness, wisdom and ingenuity. God does not want us to brag or boast about our so-called achievements because as far as God is concerned we cannot achieve anything remarkable without Him. Remember Jesus said, without Him, we can do nothing. We are all we are and where we are by the grace of God. We must stop thinking that we made ourselves. There is no self-made man on this planet earth. There is nothing that we have that we have not received of Him. We are all we are by divine Providence. Beloved, whatever is working for you today never arrogate it to your efforts and sleepless nights. There are several people who sleep lesser and works harder yet they are not getting the same result. It is the grace of God that makes all the difference. You are not a self-made man or woman, you were made by God. There is no reason for our pride, if we really know how to think, we will know how to give thanks.

Wisdom Nugget: Pride is an enemy of gratitude. You cannot be proud and be genuinely grateful to God or people.

Prayer Point: Father, let every form of pride be destroyed in my life in Jesus name.
