THE PROOF OF LOVE – Day 15

Text: JOHN 14:1-31

Memory Verse: Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me (John 14:23, 24)

Message: It is possible for everyone to claim that they love God but we must always understand that love is not love until we can prove it or demonstrate it. Love must not only be in our words or our songs, love must be in our actions. God wants us to be able to prove our love for the entire world to see. We are not to just sing about love but to demonstrate it. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us some parameters with which to measure the sincerity of our claims when we say or confess that we love God. First, He said it emphatically that if we truly love Him we shall keep His commandments. In John 14:15 He said “If ye love me, keep my commandments:” (John 14:21a). This subject of obedience to the word was reiterated in verses 23 and 24. There were other parameters like giving and others. God demonstrated His love for us by giving us His only son and anyone who claim to love God must show it by their willingness or readiness to give sacrificially and generously for the kingdom.

Wisdom Nugget: Your willingness and readiness to make sacrifice for God or people is the proof that you love them.

Prayer Point: Father, help me to obey your word in Jesus name.
