THE PRESERVATIVE POWER OF SACRIFICE – Day 180

Text: 1 SAMUEL 7:1-17

Memory Verse: And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him. And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel. (1 Samuel 7:9-10)

Message: Sacrificial giving is giving that is not convenient or giving which cost us a lot of inconvenience and self-denial. Just like David said in the Bible that he would not give to God a sacrifice that cost him nothing. It is actually what it cost you that makes it a sacrifice. It is also a sacrifice or sacrificial giving when it is not your level but you decided to stretch yourself to give it all the same or when you are putting the money together for something else and you decided to sow it to God instead of that item. It can also be that you choose to give material things that are very useful to God or because you do not have the cash. For instance people sow their cars or houses to God even when they do not have another one. They chose to inconvenience themselves by giving to God. The people of Israel just offered a sacrifice to God in our text today and philistines chose to attack them in that very place of sacrifice, but God rose up on their behalf and destroyed the philistines. That is how God fights for anyone that worships Him with sacrifice. It is not possible to destroy a man who offers sacrifices to God as a lifestyle.

Wisdom Nugget: When the offering of sacrifice to God becomes your habit, you simply become untouchable for the wicked.

Prayer Point: Father, arise and destroy anyone that wants to destroy me in Jesus name.
