THERE WAS GREAT JOY IN THAT CITY – Day 147
Text: ACTS 8:1-40
Memory Verse: And there was great joy in that city (Acts 8:8)
Message: One of the greatest evidence of the presence of the word in a place is joy. You cannot truly receive God’s word and be sad, sorrowful, despaired, discouraged or dejected. The word of God stirs up joy in the hearts of those who received it. The word of God ignites joy in the atmosphere. The reason for the depression in the lives of some believers today is as a result of not paying attention to the word of God. Every depression is traceable to the absence of the word of God. We cannot escape depression if we neglect, ignore or forget the word of God. It was Philip that brought joy to the entire city of Samaria just by preaching Christ to the people of the city. We have all it takes to bring joy to people and even the entire city or nation. All we need to do is to share the gospel of Christ with everyone we come across. When people come to Christ they will be filled with joy of salvation. You may not have cars, mansions and many material things yet, but if you really know what it means to have Christ in your life, you cannot but be extremely joyful. As believers we must not watch people go depressed, sad and sorrowful, we have the antidote to all of these things. We must go from house to house, from one corner to the other and preach Christ to the people.
Wisdom Nugget: We are not only joy-carriers. We also spread it to cities and nations.
Prayer Point: Father, anoint me to spread your joy all over the world in Jesus name.
